The Year of Open initially launched in 2017 to recognize some of the significant milestones for open education. As we considered celebrating these achievements, we realized that there’s a lot to celebrate in all areas of openness – open web, open data, open source software, open government, etc. The Year of Open became a global focus on openness, discussing 12 topics by contributors from over 85 global experts from over 140 countries.

During the Year of Open 2018, we want to keep the momentum going; we want to move from discussion to action. We want to know what you have done or what your are doing in open education.

We will revisit some of our most popular topics from 2017 as well as a few new ones. The topics will not only be informative; they will be actionable.
